  • About Cae·su·ra [si-zhoor-uh]

    1. A pause in a line of verse dictated by sense 2. A pause or breathing at a point of rhythmic division in a melody.

The concept of Caesura Massage is based in the knowledge that a pause or a break in the music of our lives is essential to wellness. Along with the release of held tension and pain, the experience of a truly healing massage should include the suspension of awareness and allow you to feel a weightless, timeless moment. This is the moment of physical, mental, and spiritual alignment. The whole person finds relief and balance in the stillness.

"Our challenge is to go beyond ego to higher nonlocal consciousness and access creativity and transformation." Amit Goswami

  • Bio

Monique Olivier began her training as a massage therapist in 1995 at the Huggins School of Massage Therapy as a private apprentice. After 14 months of intense study, she began her practice in Kansas. Over the next six years Monique developed a wonderful, loyal clientele and tons of valuable experience. During these years, she began the practice and study of Yoga. These studies brought her a deeper understanding of the mind, body, and soul of the human existence. This understanding has fueled her work as a therapist and helped her to take care of herself as she cares for her clients. She received her Yoga Alliance teaching certification in 2002 through the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies in Wichita, Kansas.
In 2002 Monique moved to Brooklyn and furthered her education at the Swedish Institute. There she received an Associates of Occupational Studies Degree in Massage Therapy and her New York State Licensure in October of 2004.
Working as a massage therapist in New York has brought wonderful opportunities and challenges to Monique’s practice. In October of 2005, she joined the Chopra Center and Spa at their location in NYC. On staff there she took part in an ongoing study and practice of Ayurveda, a 5000 year old holistic approach to health from India.
Through her experience and layered education Monique has developed an instinctual and thorough massage technique that is uniquely suited to each individual with whom she works.
